Terrific jacket at a great value BUT, as with most things in life, it’s all about where you set your expecations. I love the light weight, compressability, and features of this jacket. The elastic cuffs, bottom hem, and hood opening are well sized. The cut is a little boxy, certainly more so than jackets I own from high-end brands which sell for 3-5x this one! The pockets in this jacket are well done: two zippered outside which easily fit my hands, phone, etc. and then on the inside there two sufficiently wide and deep “drop in” style pockets and finally a large zippered pocket which doubles as the pouch into which the jacket compresses.The jacket feels decently made and warm enough for 50 degree temps over a t-shirt, colder if you’re wearing good layers underneath. I’m 6’2″ and normally wear a large in jackets like this but I found the Medium in this jacket to be a better fit (likely due to the somewhat boxy cut) than the Large was. Hard to say if I’ll ever use this jacket in the backcountry as I’ve got my trusty favorites (e.g. Patagonia, Arc’teryx, Mountain Hardware, etc.) for hiking and camping. All in all though, this was a great purchase for how I’ll use it running errands, hanging out around a fire pit (i.e. risk of embers) and in situations where I don’t want to risk damaging my more expensive options.

Warm but Light
I love Spyder products. They are light but keep you very warm. They are also compact enough to roll up when you change from a cold environment to a warm one. This coat is great. It keeps me warm but doesn’t drag me down like other heavy material coats will. I highly recommend it.

Good fit and nice looking. Like that it can fold up into it’s own pocket.
It fits nice and is very comfortable. The filler seems a bit thin which makes me think the jacket is not meant for really cold weather (I’ll be testing that soon) but I like that it can fold up into it’s pocket which will make it ideal for an upcoming overseas trip. Unfortunately folding it up into its pocket does make it look wrinkled when unfolding, but that should be expected. I give it 4 stars only because there were some loose, dangling threads around the wrist elastic (which are flimsier than I would want) so hope they don’t start to unravel with time.

This jacket is very thin, however it is pretty warm and windproof. There was a small gap in the sticking on a pocket. I just sowed it up myself.
